Alpha from Cod Vanguard Fills thanks to new mode - but there are also problems
The Alpha Voncall of Duty: Vanguard is launched and our expert for COD - Meinmommo-author Maik Schneider - has thrown directly in the fight. He shows you his first impression and has also collected some opinions of other experts to draw a picture of the alpha.
What goes to COD? Slowly but certainly the release of the new Call of Duty: Vanguard closer and now the public's hand can finally create the new COD, which comes to the shops on 05. November. Because currently an alpha is running for players on the PlayStation.
Also, I turned a few rounds in the gameplay of Vanguard and my first impression was: Ui, but that feels famous. To explain a little bit, I'll show you my first thoughts about the Alpha Test and a few problems that see the product proven YouTube experts in the new Vanguard.
Champions Hill convinced - but I see the opponents again so bad
What was good? I started right after the loading screen in a game and then had to easily stress the most important control settings when the lap start. Without vertical-inverted control, nothing works with the controller. I often forget that the first start of a shooter and here did not listen to the usual feelings.
Even with my first movements, I realized that I have everything directly under control here - first the movement, then the gunplay. Vanguard uses a polished engine of COD MW and therefore also Warzone. Since I have the Battle Royale since release for longer or shorter phases, I also feel at home at the Vanguard gameplay. Without great imports, I sat safely around the corners and put precise hits. That gave a good feeling for the start.
As a further plus point, I feel the new mode Champions Hill. One ends up with an opponent team on a pretty small map and must remove mutually life. In total, 8 teams are included in the game and all teams have 12 life. If a team loses all life, the duo flies out. Incidentally, Alpha offers only duo to start. TRIO should come but still come.
However, they are not batting around every 12 life against a team. Every few minutes, a match ends and a new opponent pair is selected by chance. This creates a good dynamics and keeps the game running. There were a few campers and almost only action-packed rounds.
Through kills and Loot on the map you also collect cash and every few rounds is a purchase phase. I can buy a new weapon at the supply stations, get equipment, take Perks and support my gameplay. At some point, only 2 teams are left, which then fight for victory in a final.
Overall, the small, tournament-like mode was able to convince me: that has geft. You have never been a long way to the next battle and Champions Hill offers opportunities for restrained and aggressive play styles. Through the short laps it was every few minutes as if you were starting a completely new match and went with the confidence of a new round in the fight. That was very motivating and rarely mediated frustration.
The mixture of the coherent, well-known gameplay and the cool game mode made a good feeling and desire for me from the start. But not without any restrictions.
What was not so good? A problem that persecuted me since Cold is the rather poor visibility of enemies in the multiplayer of Call of Duty. While enemies in Warzone and Modern Warfare are quickly and intuitive to recognize, I see in Cold was the opponents worse and also in the Alpha vanguard I meet the phenomenon. That was for me after the start of Cold was also a reason why the title quickly disappeared cabinet.
In the case of Vanguard, the right color tuning of background and figures could play a role. Whether maps or operator - everything somehow has a earthy, brown tone and blur into each other. To do this, the screen becomes extremely dark when you take damage.
I would like to say that the developers are still screwing on the visibility factors. But with Cold War changed only after the full release and that's why I'm skeptical about this time.
As a further point, which remained negative after the first few rounds, the permeability of the coverages was. On the little maps I was almost going through everything and an opponent behind a cover was not sure. It is different about that too for me. So I just reach the saving wings from the plane that someone has parked there, just to determine that the enemy can shoot me through the cover through the cover. Nervous.

What opinions are there still? To make my impressions of something and to catch up more opinions, I have a few videos of Cod experts.
So TheXclsuIVEACE also criticizes the audio of weapons. The maps are built in such a way that other teams are very close, but unattainable, also play their laps. The shots from these areas were louder than the shots of their own opponents. The minimap mechanics, which are oriented to COD MW, do not have fun.
Drift0r is especially frustrated by the spawns. He landed more often in situations in which he spawned near or in the field of view of an opponent. After his first impression, the spawns could also be a problem for the larger maps again.
Jackfrags is especially the lack of a Field of View controller on the consoles. PC players can thus enlarge the image section in the current cods and see more of the environment.
But the positive aspects are highlighted as the good movement and gunplay. A change of the Perk Spirit knows also to inspire: players have to move now to protect mind before enemy education. The audio of the steps is also mentioned positively. Steps in Vanguard are probably clear quieter and not so great factor in the discovery of enemies.

My conclusion at the end: As a fan of the gameplay of Warzone and COD MW, my first playful impression was very good. I focused on the core mechanics to get a feeling of the most important aspects in my eyes in the first round. The gameplay along with the entertaining game mode, I did it very much, although the number with the visibility is a bit annoying again.
Add to that the slightly shorter time-to-kill than was in Cold, which is not quite as low as in COD MW. This is good, fluid and on the usual high cod level, as far as battles are concerned.
However, there is always noise moments in which small mechanics break through the fun experience. First of all, I have to call the visibility, but also the permeable coverings make me creating.
My general impression was good and still located Vanguard in an alpha - the release is still over 2 months away. Well enough time to work on the little things. I think if you like the gameplay of Warzone or COD MW, then Vanguard also comes well with you. At least, if you can arrange with the setting, just like me.
