Microsoft is not against Raven Software union
In November of last year it was announced that part of the quality control employees in Raven Software, Activision Blizzard study that is responsible for _ Call of Duty: Warzone _, would be dismissed. This resulted in a series of protests and in the formation of a union in January 2022. Since then, this group of workers has fought to be recognized by Activision, something that has been quite complicated. Now, it has been revealed that Microsoft would not have problems if this union becomes a complete reality.
In a chart shared by Axios, Raven Software workers wrote directly to Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO, to know its position in this situation, and ask for help to stop the Tactics of Activision to destroy this union. This was what they commented:
"Most quality control employees in our location have signed trade union authorization cards and we have asked Activision Blizzard to recognize our union with the Communications Workers of America. Recently, we learned that, as part of its fusion proposal, Activision Blizzard should seek Microsoft's approval to voluntarily recognize or celebrate a collective agreement with us as a union. "
In response, Microsoft commented:
"Microsoft will not be interposed on the road if Activision Blizzard recognizes a union. Microsoft respects the right of Activision Blizzard employees to choose whether to be represented by a labor organization and we will honor those decisions. "
In this way, it is implied that Microsoft would not have problems if the Raven Software union is recognized by Activision Blizzard . However, it is currently unknown what conditions could this company be put in any collective bargaining agreement, and where of the discussions is this conversation.
Along with this, there is a lot of skepticism about this position. In 2014, Microsoft subcontractors voted in favor of forming a union and were soon dismissed by their direct boss . Similarly, an anti-union report against Microsoft presented to the NLRB in 2016 failed to move forward.
At the moment we can only wait and see that it will happen . On related topics, here you can learn more about the Raven Software union. Similarly, Activision Blizzard does not recognize this group.
Editor's note:
Considering that the purchase of Activision Blizzard is not yet completed, and several US legal groups are on this case, the Microsoft CEO response makes sense. It remains to be seen if these words will come true once the acquisition comes to an end.
