Martha Is Dead is tragic, beautiful and horrible

Martha Is Dead, a psychological thriller of the LKA developer, should go out next month, not only the fantasy aesthetic of the trailer intrigued me, but also the potential of history - which takes place in Italy during the Second World War. I did not know exactly what I would find hidden in his depths, but after playing the first half of the game, I can say safely that it is the one to watch.

It is Tuscany, the year is 1944. It is a time of war, a time of difficulty, a time of sadness. And until Giulia, the daughter of a German soldier, finds his sister Martha still floating in a lake, none of these three descriptors were his reality. Now, it must give meaning to its macabre discovered by itself. There is a dichotomy in the way history unfolds - a part in reality and a part in an ongoing state. There are no big jump fears and no big wicked to rid the world, so the horror is in the form of twists along the way. Do not worry, it's still quite scary. Without going further in history, there will be a lot to discover during your game. Some of them will really put you a little uncomfortable.

Martha is Dead plays a bit like a horror walking simulator with some interaction items added here and there. I would have liked that there is a little more freedom to walk and explore, especially given the beauty of the Tuscan countryside, but I can understand why LKA has designed the game that way. The concentration and immersion come from the point of view of Giulia and his love of photography. And in fact, the camera is very important to advance the story.

There are no riddles in the traditional sense of the term, instead, you will find yourself plunged into interactive labyrinths in a way. There are two 'puzzles' in Martha Is Dead. You will need to focus on objects through the goal of your camera to take snapshot, or you will be in the middle of the forest, leading properly a sequence of words and sentences to move forward. While the photo puzzles are quite easy, the word one is a little more complicated. Guess the wrong word or bad phrase, and you will have to start again to zero. It can sometimes be a little frustrating because these words and phrases appear very quickly, however, they become easier as you progress.

That said, part of what makes these frustrating sequences is the movement of clumsy camera. It is a problem everywhere, but it is rather a minor nuisance to these sequences. Orders are not super fluid, so I found quite often that moving can be a little painful. Which, of course, is not exactly what you hope when you play a game that really focuses on walking and research.

In addition, loading times between chapters and even between cinematic are not as fast as they should be. There was a moment when I left my computer, I got a cup of tea, I came back and the next scene was just beginning to develop. Thus, between the two chapters, it took almost 3 minutes full to take care! This does not exactly lend the immersive experience for which the rest of the game is trying so hard. But, as there is still a month before Martha Is Dead's complete exit, I hope these mechanisms will be flattered for a more transparent feel.

Although Martha Is Dead is not exactly the height of the AAA game graphics, every little detail of the game lends itself not only to the general story of the game, but also to the player's experience. Authentic Italian dialogue at its foreign atmosphere and lighting, Martha Is Dead will attract you. The artistic direction is dark, but beautiful. Without a doubt, you will be on the edge of your seat, waiting for this fear of the jump that never happens.

And you will not forget Martha Is Dead's music. He gives perfect t1. It's expressive, captivating and powerful. If you have ever listened to Between Music: Aqua sonic, you'll know exactly what to expect. It's suspension, but exquisite. There are not many games to whom I would replay for music, but it is definitely an exception to the rule.

Martha Is Dead is reflected, but immersive and sometimes a bit horrible. Its atmosphere, game design and soundtrack are largely worth the entrance price. After playing a little over half of the game, it seems like there are still many questions I would like answers, and I am invested to know what's going on. Whether you are someone who attends the kind of horror, Martha Is Dead should be on your radar. And you will not have to wait long because it will come out at the end of next month!
